Gianfranco Biagini -3D Designer / Visualizer
I am educated as a Multimedia Designer with a background in Business Management. My primary area is related to the 3D visualization and design of architecture projects. I have studied at the IT University of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. My current work is at NSW / Aviaplan architects in Oslo. It is at NSW where I developed my design and technical skills to its present state. I participated actively in many projects where I have produced images from its conceptual state to the final presentation. Among the most relevant projects where I have participated in the design highlight:

Latest projects
- Cappelen Damm library [1,2] (interior for the new coffee with bookstore, flexible night option that can become a lounge bar).
- Opera Bjorvika competition [3,4] (surrounding buildings for the Oslo opera, various activities planned in this areas).
- X shopping center [5,6] (interiors for a shopping center with a light "crack" in the ceiling, idea for a external element that will prepare the entrance of a building, protect from the wind and still provide light).
- Molde hospital [7,8,9,10] (interiors for the entrance and the cafeteria).
- Tyn cottages [11,12,13] (interiors for the main apartment).
Project finished and handed to a real estate agent: Jotunheimen eiendom
- Jotne marina [14] (created the marina with its shopping street).
- Marienborg shopping center [15] (created the shopping area inside an old train warehouse).
- High Living apartments [17,18] Project finished and handed to a real estate agent: Highliving

In most projects (except my independent lamp project) I have been part of a team composed of architects, trainees and a 3D Designer. I will mainly deal with the creation of the images and esthetic design improvements to the original ideas; this can take place in interiors or exteriors. In other occasions (Jotne, Marienborg), I created something interesting for a presentation without previous drawings.

My independent lamp project
An ongoing project together with a Norwegian design lamp company. The lamp is ideal for interior public spaces such as cafeterias.

My role as a 3D Designer
My role has being evolving, from visualization to actual design and proposal. I started at B.I.G. architects in Copenhagen where I worked in the team responsible for the Odense Aqua Center Spa. The result was a series of images, a physical model and a small animation. It was in this phase that I started to use the Vray rendering system in 3dsmax which is considered the industry standard in visualizations. See the project phase where I participated here.

After B.I.G. I joined CFMøller architects in Copenhagen for the competition “Maritime museum in Helsingør”. As the person in control of the image one is able to fill out some “gray” areas that are left to exploration, this situation made my role expand. In this stage I familiarized with the iterative design process, basically trial and error of interesting proposals, material testing, light, etc. The result was a second place in the international competition. See the project here.

The third company is at NSW architects in Oslo where my role as a 3D Designer has being re-affirmed. The role of 3D Design tests early concept development, the relation to the surroundings, shade studies, building expression and overall atmosphere of the place. It’s not only about visualizing but also proposing and addressing issues in a convincing way. Presentation, flexibility to changes and esthetic are very important. The 3D Designer will create images that seduce the viewer and that portray a future projection of the place.
