The Odense Acqua Center is a traditional pool turned inside out. It won the first prize in a competition for the Odense municipality in the south of Denmark by B.I.G. (Bjarke Ingels Group) architects in Copenhagen. Its size is approximately 5000m2 and its construction will be completed in 2008. The complex will provide various swimming pools, stair trampoline, a cafeteria area and a water slider among other features. I have been in charge of the 3D area comprising Autocad map interpretation, 3Dsmax modelling, texturing, Vray rendering, animation and post production with Photoshop, Flash, Premiere video and audio software.
Photo-realism or conceptual images?
Photo-realism is not actually always good for an architecture project and it is not an always desirable. The level of detail is mostly related to the final use of the images. Quite often a level of abstraction is required as visualization is a projection of a future space and its use. A certain level of abstraction allows the mind to process and interpret the information. Total photo-realism, with its many details, may add noise as its realism may look, as it actually already exists.
